Interstate 10 in Phoenix could expand to 24 lanes
Arizona seems to be gaining on Texas as the place where things get done in a big way, at least as far as highways are concerned. On February 15, 2007, a Phoenix area newspaper (the East Valley Tribune) reported that the Arizona State Department of Transportation is working on plans that would expand a portion of Interstate 10 from the current twelve lanes to six separated roadways (three running in each direction) containing a total of 24 lanes. This massively expanded segment would extend several miles north and then west of the interchange with U.S. 60.
